Cargo Surveys

SCQ Offshore provides independent cargo survey services to verify cargo condition, handling, stowage, securing, and documentation at every stage of the shipping process. Our goal is to help clients avoid cargo damage, delays, financial loss, and disputes through clear technical oversight and transparent reporting.

Our surveys cover a wide range of cargo types including bulk , general, and breakbulk cargo, project and heavy-lift equipment, steel products, containers, liquid cargoes, and reefer / temperature-controlled goods.

Depending on the cargo and operation, we assess packaging integrity, marking and identification, measurement and tally,  stowage and lashing arrangements, hatch and hold readiness, and suitability of lifting and handling gear. Where required, we supervise loading and discharge operations and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with best industry practices and regulatory standards.

Each survey includes a comprehensive report with photographic documentation, status findings, risk observations, and recommendations for corrective actions when needed. Whether carried out for owners, charterers, shippers, receivers, insurers, or P&I Clubs, SCQ Offshore delivers objective and professional cargo inspection services to support safe transport, protect commercial interests, and minimize the risk of claims or disputes.

Our Services

Pre-loading survey

Pre-loading survey

Pre-loading survey

A pre-loading cargo survey is carried out to verify the condition, suitability, and readiness of cargo before it is shipped. Our surveyors inspect packaging, marking, moisture sensitivity, handling requirements, and confirm that the cargo is free from visible damage or defects prior to loading. We also ensure that documentation aligns with the physical cargo and that the vessel or container is suitable for the intended cargo. This proactive inspection helps prevent damage claims, miss-declarations, and commercial disputes before the voyage begins.

Discharge Survey

Pre-loading survey

Pre-loading survey

A discharge survey is performed at the port of arrival to assess the condition of the cargo at the time of discharge and to verify whether any damage or discrepancies occurred during transportation. The surveyor monitors cargo handling, inspects for signs of impact, water damage, contamination, short delivery, or improper stowage, and records findings objectively with photographic evidence. This service protects the interests of shippers, consignees, insurers, and P&I Clubs by providing clear documentation of cargo condition upon receipt.

Cargo Condition Surveys

Loading and Stowage Supervision

Loading and Stowage Supervision

Cargo condition surveys can be conducted at any stage of the transport cycle — during storage, prior to shipment, during transit, or after discharge — to document the physical status of the cargo at a specific moment in time. The survey evaluates visible damages, contamination, humidity exposure, deformation, and compliance with cargo-handling requirements. Each report includes detailed observations, photographic evidence, and independent assessments to support commercial decisions, insurance claims, and loss prevention efforts.

Loading and Stowage Supervision

Loading and Stowage Supervision

Loading and Stowage Supervision

During loading operations, SCQ Offshore supervises the handling, lifting, positioning, and securing of cargo to ensure compliance with approved stowage and lashing plans, vessel stability requirements, and industry best practices. Our surveyors verify proper use of dunnage, lashing materials, and securing arrangements to protect the cargo throughout the voyage. Early involvement during loading significantly reduces the risk of movement, impact damage, or safety incidents caused by improper stowage or inadequate securing.

Cargo Damage surveys

We provide cargo damage surveys for both marine and land freight, acting on behalf of insurance companies, P&I Clubs, shippers, receivers, freight forwarders, logistics operators, and international agents. Our role is to independently determine the nature, extent, and cause of damage and to protect the commercial interests of our clients through transparent and defensible reporting.

Our comprehensive survey reports are designed to cover every relevant inspection element, ensuring clarity, evidence, and protection for all parties involved.
