Marine warranty surveys (MWS)

A Marine Warranty Survey is an independent third-party review and approval process for high-value and high-risk marine transportation and construction operations. It verifies that the engineering, planning, procedures, equipment, and execution of the operation meet recognised industry standards and can be carried out safely and reliably. Marine Warranty Surveys provide assurance from the early planning stage through to the physical execution of the operation.

Marine Warranty Surveys play a critical role in ensuring that high-risk marine operations are executed safely and in accordance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practice guidelines. They provide an independent assessment to verify that the planning, engineering, equipment, and operational controls are suitable for complex and high-value activities such as offshore construction, heavy-lift and transport operations, and towing operations.

A Marine Warranty Survey demonstrates to project stakeholders that risks have been properly evaluated and mitigated, and that the operation can proceed with an appropriate level of safety for personnel, assets, and the environment. In many cases, insurance underwriters require a Marine Warranty Survey as a condition of coverage, making it an essential component of responsible project execution.
